For how janky driverless cars can be, I am not optimistic that we’re close. I wouldn’t want a huge bus full of people getting confused on the road. If driverless cars didn’t require so much human intervention to function normally, I would have a different feeling.

I just installed Pop!_OS and kept the customization to a minimum. I don’t love GNOME, but I wanted Pop!_OS for the supposed better (easier?) NVIDIA support. I prefer KDE plasma, but GNOME works just fine. I would not be surprised if I ran into some issues in trying to change my DE. I do mess with Linux more sometimes, but I usually use a VM or some other machine for that. I don’t want to break my daily driver.

I’m not an expert by any means, but I mostly liked it. The included GUI tools for configuration and settings were nice, and it worked pretty well out of the box. I stopped using it because I got a little tired of having to repack the RPM package for Mullvad VPN, and I switched to something more mainstream. Sometimes I think about going back though.

Not every enterprise runs crowdstrike, so it’s not Microsoft’s fault. I was having trouble finding out what happened because our computers were working normally, lol. The XKCD comic tipped me off.

I’m tempted to give this a try. I already am really happy with my VPN and password manager, but it looks like you can subscribe to mail/calendar for a reasonable price. If I did that and drive, I’d rely on Google a lot less.

It’s undoubtedly nice during that step of the process, but afterwards you’re on a platform that may not be well suited to the purpose. It’d be better just to make the new account on an actual forum. Granted, I use Bitwarden now, so I don’t sweat making new accounts anymore.

This makes me wonder if there is a centralized system for forums. We have stackexchange already, but that’s really designed to be a question and answer site.

For me it was Python and C development on Linux. (So Anaconda.) I was pretty impressed by how much you can do with free software. Before I would have thought scientists would use expensive proprietary software for calculations. Later I learned that they sometimes still do, but many write their own code using work from others in the field who released open source software.

Yeah I don’t get the hate for Discord here. If you use it for customer service or as a substitute for documentation, I can imagine it being annoying. It’s like using Excel for absolutely everything. Excel isn’t that bad, it’s just the people that use it badly make it so.
