They should have made an organized move to other platforms like this one. It would have given them leverage against Reddit

This. The protesting subreddits should have been creating alternative communities at Lemmy and elsewhere while they were locked down or hidden for whatever, and then they’d have had real leverage when forced back open.

I’ve been using the Reddit app lately and it’s absolute dogshit. It mostly shows me content that I didn’t ask for. It trying hard to be tiktok or something. Very annoying. It functions differently from how most people use Reddit

I am following subreddits related to Gamestop stock and BBBY stock.

Also, there are a bunch of very niche subreddits that haven’t even got single-user communities here yet… I play somewhat obscure musical genres and instruments and nobody in those subreddits are talking about Lemmy except for me 😕

I unfortunately still have some subreddits I need to follow there, but much more of my time is spent over here these days.

90 percent of Reddit users are casual lurkers with no account. Of the ten percent with accounts, 10 percent actually post content or even leave a comment.
