I haven’t run Linux in ages (2012 maybe?) But I’m about ready to give it another look. I use windows on my machine less and less frequently, and it seems like it’s never been easier to switch to something less “taking all the control away from the user” focused.

Same bro (or broette). I still have my account, and I have logged in twice this month, and no times since the blackouts. I will go back occasionally, probably more when football/hockey seasons start. But what I learned in all this was there are other communities where friendlier discussion happens. Where disagreements don’t come with insults, and I can feel less like a number. I’m cool with that.

This might also be a shit take, but you’re both right IMO. On the one hand people announcing they’re off social media IS pretty melodramatic, but on the other hand, the person doing it also developed a very popular mod toolbox and it’s probably important for those that use it to know he’s stepping away.

What’s really REALLY annoying is that the new version of the app has ALL The same bugs HBO max had when it launched. The audio desync when skipping intros, the timeouts on resuming paused content, the out of sync subtitles, the glitchy UI. It’s like they just reskinned the 1.0 launch of the old app from four years ago and called it a day.

And there it is. They’re going to implement a system that will enable them to remove mods without cause, justified by anonymous voting…when they have millions of bots that can vote however Reddit wants them to. People said they’d replace mods and instill puppets and this is quite literally that.

Won’t solve thile moderation shit show it will cause but the removing the mods forcibly part is now in the works.

Yeah that lost me too. Many standard phones have a much smaller footprint than the flip phones once they’re open, and imo a hinged portion that moves when pressure is applied makes it easier to drop, not more difficult. Like with where my fingers are on the back of my phone now, if I move them I could push the top portion closed if it were a flip phone.

I would argue that what you actually need are bigger pockets, but since pants manufacturers REFUSE TO GIVE THEM TO WOMEN, I see where you’re coming from.

I 100% do not get the appeal of a folding phone today. What benefit does it offer? Like the article opinion says, I sort of see the appeal of a folding full size, way bigger screen. I have a friend that has one and uses it because he doesn’t want a tablet and because he reads a lot of comics. He also breaks his phone more than any person I’ve ever met and he likes that the inner screen is more prefected/harder to break (his outer screen is trashed btw).

But he’s got to be the edge case of phone users right? Am I crazy? Am I an old man yelling at a cloud? It’s okay if I am. To me it’s like arguing that everyone should stop using slim wallets or frontnpocket wallets and go back to the wallet that has every cars you’ve ever had in it and makes you sit 3" higher on one butt cheek.
