Will do. I think Asus stopped sending fw updates so I’m hoping to get a few more years out of this unit.

I’m running an older Asus router they is listed on the OpenWrt site. Would it be the most affordable option to just install open wrt on this device and manually bring over my current configs?
I’ve been using Feeder https://f-droid.org/packages/com.nononsenseapps.feeder/ Works for my needs, but I haven’t explored much.

I run llms using a 780m you’ll be fine. I get pretty close to 10 tokens a second for larger 20B+ models.

I also want to look into the exit node stuff.

I wanted to share that i was able to get my CD copies of SimCity and SimCity 3000 running on Linux using Lutris to run the installer and configure wine. I can’t believe that Linux has become the way to run old 16/32 bit applications originally designed for Windows. Love it

Says new keyboard layouts in wayland. It’s likely still experimental.
I installed Khan kids for my child to use without needed a tablet.
I haven’t used arch (yet) to form an opinion. I do however run bohi on a laptop. It’s been rock solid, but I offten scratch my head when I’m using it and end up questioning my life choices.
Check out the YT videos from Explaining Conputers for some more comparisons of distros for starting out.
I want to question life: bohi linux

Yeah, my neighbor’s believed in this a lot. My counter argument was always “How can you vote for hate?” Wasn’t anyone around for his first term?

Evening is going ok, but noticed the screen saver on jellyfin isn’t showing up lately… need to investigate…
Also, watched the latest “Explaining Computers” episode today.

Cool. It’s pretty slow on my machine. I almost tempted to pickup one of those mini pcs with windows 11 on them and just use it for that one thing… But it’s only a though and not a very good one… Lol

Have you considered a Windows vm? That’s how i run that single program that i can’t get working on Linux. Yeah it’s slow AF on my system, but it’s not used often.

You mean convince more people to not buy android phones. Man we used to be able to run custom kernel code on the palm pre to try and get more performance out

The steps look good. It’s running Alpine. I wonder how long this takes start to helloworld.

i have just revived a system from 2013 with linux, if i turn off secure boot does this matter?
Just look at the processors in the Synology offerings, you didn’t need much to run a bunch of services.
