Probably because 3rd party app stores can’t install apps like the play store can. you need a rooted phone or flash them as a system app to get the same functionality as Play Store. which isn’t something your average Joe will do.

On a normal unmodified phone you have to manually confirm each app you want to install. so no auto-updates in the background etc.

Snapchat and Google Docs are the only two non-FOSS apps I can’t shake off.

It would be cool to have a Snapchat clone based on Briar.

Google docs because I don’t trust myself with my own data, I always end up delteting important documents cause I save them to random locations when cleaning house. Having it all in once place, with autosync, search and a nice powerful mobile interface is really convenient.

I unsubscribed because they blasted me with 5 min “are you a robot” tests for every request.

Now I’m using Perplexity, that sucks too but at least it is usable.
