Headscale exists

Matrix is the way. It’s federated and you can have your own server.

I have my server behind NAT and I use Tailscale to access it from elsewhere.

This is just a dick measuring contest.

Obsidian with synchronization to my Nextcloud instance

Not something so complex that it requires a docker

Docker is the thing that sandboxes your services from the host OS. I’d rather use Podman because of the true non-root mode, but Docker is still based. Plus, you can use Docker Swarm if you don’t want to switch to Kubernetes (though you don’t have easy storage integration for persistence).

Buy a VPS, set up Nextcloud and try it that way.

Alright then. I’d recommend Nextcloud.

Obsidian has a built-in sync feature. Use it.

It’s the only way to get to Capitalism 2.0.

Gitea, Forgejo, and cgit exist

What about Tailscale? I know it’s Proprietary software, but still.

Host forgejo.

Or Gitea if you want to run the upstream.

AFAIK, Tailscale has Funnel, which is better than CF tunnels since you can expose any machine you have without buying an expensive switch.

They need to make money somehow. And you probably don’t want sponsored images in your library.
