I have rotated between countless titles over several decades. What I do hasn’t really changed. Currently I’m not even aware what my official title is and when someone asks I usually say something along the lines of I make IT go but in my native language.
I’m so glad amazon is useless in my country due to high delivery times and fees. Local stores never vanished and their online stores are so much better.
No idea, I’m not from the US and don’t know the laws beyond what I have previously looked up. Here in Estonia you can make the translation layer without accepting any EULA and even if you did it wouldn’t be legally binding. You can alse reverse engineer anything you want.
You probably don’t but it depends where you are. Reverse engineering software without permission isn’t illegal in most places but in the US I’m pretty sure it is.
Probably depends on your country’s laws. Here in Estonia most EULAs aren’t valid because pressing accept on those isn’t legally binding.
Yea, I tried to use AI for my work, it seems to have zero clue about the software I asked about but it pretends it does. I think I’m safe.
A better method would be to organize protests. Like billionaires know that their companies are responsible for like 90% of global warming, otherwise we wouldn’t get ads aimed at making normal people feel responsible for this. Carbon capture is a similar incentive, it is absolutely useless but it let’s companies continue with the status quo instead of making an actual change, it’s just a distraction.
I hold out hope that people will get out of their homes and join protests. I’ll continue participating in protest held in my country but it’s a country of like 1.3 million with more forest and bears than people. What is needed is that the people of the US, China, India, Russia etc start organising.
If you add pollution caused by large companies as another column here then the personal responsibility lines would not even be 1 pixel in height. Climate change is not something that can be fixed by personal change.
I used to run my own mail server about 2 years ago but unfortunately the spam got so bad I didn’t have the time to manage all the filters. I moved over to ProtonMail since I can still use my own domain there. So I guess I would say it’s not really worth it also it really sucks if your power is out and not having access to sent your power company a strongly worded email.
Google has been unusable in English for at least 2 years now. Searching in Estonian makes Google behave like it did when it was still good. I wonder how long that’s going to last.
