I started up a few magazines, to replace the subreddits, but don’t have the time to really promote them. And I would like more on the fediverse side, so people can actually migrate away from corporate social media.

ah, so you were getting banned on reddit. doubtless, your inherent charm was to blame.

In my case, I was running phone apps on an iPod Touch, and it couldn’t run WhatsApp. So I convinced a core group of friends to get on Signal back Snowden rec’d it. And the way networks operate, it spread out from there.
