I didn’t downvote you, but you kind of glossed over the unreasonably high price point for a middle of the road Thinkpad that looks like it’s worth less than what Lenovo is currently reselling it for. You can literally build a high end gaming rig for less than what you paid for that so I feel like we’re missing a lot of context here.

They are not being informed that their actual email account is compromised. They are simply being told that their email address and an associated password was located in some csv file somewhere.

You use your email as an identifier/username by default for numerous services so without them specifying anything further this information isn’t exceptionally meaningful. If you use the same password for your email provider as you do other services, then you’ve got bigger problems(Please don’t do this)

The UG tabs were great for motivation and mixing things up, but the basics will never change. Unfortunately a lot of learning any instrument is monotony and practice. You’re going to have to work through that if you want to pick it up again. Without tabs to lean on I’ve just found it fun to noodle around with impromptu riffs and see what comes to me.

I was a bit lucky I guess because I worked myself a bit more solidly into the intermediate range and my fingers still remember all my chords. I just don’t have the same finger stamina and my chord transitions are a lot sloppier. I’ll just be happy when I can jump back into a nice fingerpicking flow again though.

I’ve been relearning to play guitar recently and running into crap like this too. Finding any quality tabs is insanely difficult nowadays.

A decade+ ago I could find anything I needed on UltimateGuitar and it was great. Short of ear-training, I haven’t found anything that compares now.

I’ve recently started wondering how many people are here because they’re too toxic for regular social media rather than because they want to be here.

This has largely been my operating assumption as well since day one when I came over during the Reddit API lockdown. I was fairly active on a NSFW alt up until recently and I’ve actually seen dozens of comments from new users mentioning that the only reason they were here on Lemmy was because they were banned from Reddit and had no other viable options. They were always an asshole to the posters and the reality is that with a lower population of users is that there aren’t enough other voices to drown out these people yet and you end up with a feedback loop of toxicity.

People in general have a hard time conceptualizing how large and empty space is. With our current propulsion technology it will take longer than the human lifespan, barring any absolutely groundbreaking cryonics developments, to reach even the Oort cloud of our own solar system.

I think in the next century, a reasonable goal is to have small sparsely manned mining outpost settlements on Mars. There’s enough financial incentive where I could see a future where it happens.
