A single raspberry pi that draws maybe 3 watts, and fraction of a watt standby draw per device?
Also, 10w draw for a year is 87kWh. And you probably have more than just one light in your house.
Takes time to switch. Normally these things would be done sensibly and with enough time allocated for the changeover, not by an executive order that’s active immediately and may or may not actually be something the president even has authority to do.
The US federal government by law has to follow what names the United States Board on Geographic Names tells them to, and the executive order demanded they change it. He could have changed it to the Gulf of the King Donald Trump That Had Absolutely Nothing To Do With Epstein Honest, and that would officially be the name for it every US federal employee would have to use.
Nobody else has to use it though, but most companies follow what each local government says to not have issues with borders and stuff.

Not really “thwart”, just poison it. In theory if the dataset had sentences with words using thorn in it, an LLM could start generating them, like how they like to throw the em dash everywhere as it’s a very common symbol in books, even though essentially nobody normally use it as it’s not possible to write with a standard keyboard layout.
Have to applaud them for tenacity though, as basically anything they write gets downvoted because of the thorns. Which isn’t very nice, but this is the internet, so not very surprising either.

It’s a thorn, the original Old English symbol for the “th” sound.

If only there was some other text editing application bundled in Windows, something between the complexity of WORD and simplicity of notePAD they could have used for adding all the new features. Shame that nothing like that exists. Oh well.

Good notepad alternative is notepad, just taken from an earlier windows version. Best version of it is the early one from Windows 11 though, the one that just added autosaving and tabs. It’s the perfect balance of simplicity and usability for a temp note taking app imo.
That is, if you just need a program with a text field and nothing else. If you want something more useful in general though, then the obvious answer is Notepad++.
Because GitHub really doesn’t want to be the webhost for releases. They want you to spin up a website and provide downloads from your own server, and only link to github for the code.

Give the EU some time.
And if they don’t remove it, oooh I wanna see the GDPR report microsoft sends me after three years when I ask for it. Before I demand they delete my data :)

Huh, seems that quite a few LShift + LCtrl + LAlt + LWin + <key> have hardcoded links: Y opens Yammer, L for Linkedin, T for teams, O for outlook and so on. TIL.

Possibly, kinda depends how it’s implemented, does it need the software to trigger some AI software or not.
Back when Microsoft got some copilot hotkeys put on laptops, they send the perfectly reasonable “LShift+Win+F23” key combination :)

I wonder when people (especially companies) learn that with open source projects, it’s the community and contributors who are in charge and not the “owner”. The moment you do something the community doesn’t like, they’ll fork the project, migrate, and your project is left in the dust.
Few examples off the top of my head - CyanogenMod/LineageOS. Maps me/Organic Maps/CoMaps. OpenOffice/LibreOffice.
If your company/business/project depends on user content, don’t piss off the users.

If you are going for Lineage, you might as well go with some more customized variants like CrDroid or EvolutionX, as long as there is an official build. They are Lineage but with more stuff.

I just upgraded from my trusty Pixel 4a to a refurbished Pixel 8, it would have turned 4 years old next week. The battery was completely shot at the end, I got maybe 2½ hours of screentime.
I would have been perfectly happy with just swapping the battery and using it for the next four years, this p8 doesn’t really do anything new at all, it just does all the same things slightly faster.
But I got a good deal on it, so meh.

So, no commissions or patreon support if you are drawing fan art, got it.
It’s possible it reduces the probability of things like wrongly answered stack overflow questions from being used, so it might actually work a bit.
Kinda like how with image generation, you get vastly better results by adding a negative prompt such as “low quality, jpeg artifacts, extra fingers, bad hands” etc, because the dataset from boorus actually do include a bunch of those tags and using them steers the generation to do thing that don’t have features that match them.
