  • Last I checked school teachers didn’t make medical diagnoses

Then you are not paying attention to the American school system. Qualified to? Oh most certainly not, but doing it anyway. Heck my 5 year old sister is being diagnosed with just about everything the teachers can offer to the point that there is now a discussion on what tranquilizer to prescribe her without yet talking to a doctor.

We are fucked. Let’s at least call out the guy that clearly has an IQ from drug abuse to be qualified as retarded so and you can get upset at my slur of calling him a man-child instead.

  • So, I’d say there is some slight issue with replacing all decision makers with AI cause Walmart and Amazon does it for employee efficiency. It means the staff are micro managed and treated like machines the same way the computer is.

Walmart employees are moved around the floor like roombas to never interact with each other and no real availability for customers to get someone. Warehouse workers are overworked by bullshit ideas of efficiency.

Now I get that it could be fixed by having the AI systems designed to be more empathetic but who is choosing how they are programmed? The board still?

We just need good bosses who still interact with their employees on their level. We don’t need AI “replacing” anyone pretty much anywhere, but can be used as a helpful tool.

  • trying to build a community

I honestly think that’s the big part there. You can build a great app but it doesn’t matter if no one is using it and you don’t get feed back or it’s not shared around.

So, here we are trying to use the newest virtual 3rd space to create a community so that there is people will feel engaged in the product and share it around to add more.

But that’s also an issue with discord. It wants to be a social space more than a useful space and it usually gets entirely dominated by a few users with others less inclined to add in. It’s also accessible but not easy necessarily to stumble into if you are outside of the community trying to look into it more.

It just does the wrong job, slower and less efficient than old school forums or wikis, but it’s the tools we have to use in this less efficient connected Internet of the now.

  • LoL I’m trying to figure this out too. I found server part deals.

But I don’t have the whole setup figured out yet. I have my jellyfin media drive in just an external enclosure and is just an 8tb which is backed up (sorta not really) on a couple 4tb external drives I have that I copy stuff too and from. Don’t even have a backup of my PC but that’s cause it really doesn’t take much to re set it back up from scratch and I have a second PC running the proxy and stuff…

I’m definitely not the best at this and just accept that I’m doing more than average and nowhere near the people who have this all figured out.

  • See the biggest issue is that there isn’t an easy way to test any hypothesis here. For a pretty big obvious issue if you look at it.

You get wrong building a battery you maybe burn a building down, you get it wrong trying to cure pedophilia, you end up with a molested or hurt kid at worst. And a lot more people are gonna have strong emotions about the child than a building even if more lives are lost in the fire.

It’s such a big emotionally charged thing to get wrong. How do you agree to take the risk when no one would feel comfortable with the worst outcome?

So instead it’s easy and potentially just proper to push it aside and blanket say “bad”. And I hate black or white issues. But it’s impossible to answer without doing and impossible to do without and answer.

  • True, currently would be a bit of a mess but can you imagine if consoles had a display port as well and you could pair a controller or keyboard or whatever directly to your TV and use it to pass through data to either a console or PC connected to it without having to change anything from it being able to use the TV as USB Bluetooth adapter.

Really I just seem to want a higher PC monitor as a TV I guess, but universal remotes could really be universal with a setup like that.

But it ends up being a huge overhaul of everything we currently have and with no easy single cable swap solution really for lots of devices. And therefore lots of people hating it and why we stay with HDMI for that and other reasons.
