I don’t think trolls think that hard. It’s all for instant gratification. There are few dedicated and motivated trolls. It’s a low effort sort of deal.

I’ve been promoting Lemmy for the past few days and have gotten my comments removed and downvoted by people claiming that Lemmy was a far left recruiting ground for domestic terrorism lmao

I learned that same lesson while doing office work.

Personally it feels like working for free by posting on Reddit. Id rather create content about my hobbies here where no one is making money off of it.

Tbh the lack of people and content here has limited my doom scrolling tremendously.

Also helps that everyone here is like a kid on their first day of high school or college. Zero toxicity! 😎

The fact is that there is some useful info that only is on Reddit. No shame in looking that stuff up since that’s where it is.

The main thing is to stop using Reddit as your go-to time waster/doom scrolling app

When I joined I checked out the mod log and saw a few mentions of “orientalism” as a reason for removing comments which I thought was weird.

It sounds like a huge waste of time removing mention of an ongoing human rights crisis. I guess it means a lot to them to have a little safe space on the internet where they aren’t reminded about painful things.

Just seems kind of silly to avoid a whole platform over the personal ideology of the creator. No one seems to have any problem with some of the extreme anti-human ideologies that a lot of social media ceos have.

I’m getting 8-10 year old accounts that haven’t commented for months jumping on any post I make where I mention Lemmy. So far, Lemmy is apparently a place for “CCP apologists” and “tankies”.

I’ve yet to run into any of these individuals. Sounds like some people at Reddit are not so happy.
