No idea. Someone in lemmy seem to have a grudge against me and seem to have set up bots to downvote my posts. They are not counted by kbin though, so I am alright. Let them have their fun lol
You have understood us well!
This looks really good! Thanks for suggesting this.
Discord is not FOSS and is a privacy nightmare.
I still use them for my TV and AC remotes, flashlights and wall clocks.
I never realised that many people don’t need to use it anymore.
Oh that’s my bad. I never actually realised that they are no longer open source. Am I being downvoted in lemmy.ml? If yes, then I have no idea why and don’t really care lol. I would happily support each of the projects I mentioned.
Kbin, Mastodon, Signal, CryptPad, Bitwarden Libre Office, Paint.NET, OpenShot, Audacity, F-Droid
This will only happen if more popular projects choose the alternatives, forcing people who want to contribute to them to join those platforms. I am sure that the fact that Ernest chose codeberg over Github for Kbin resulted in several of its current contributors to join that platform for the first time.
Common Firefox W
Also I am happy that they chose fedia.io to open their instance and not kbin.social. kbin really need to spread out more.
But Telegram also have access to more info about its users, considering that messages are not end to end encrypted by default, than Signal does of its. This means that Telegram can share any data it wants, its users are just hoping that it won’t. In the case of Signal, they don’t have access to any meaningful data in the first place. This is third place I am posting this to, but whatever:
When the Twitter migration happened, a lot of folks got overenthusiastic about the idea of the fediverse and started setting up their own Mastodon instances, despite having little to no experience with selfhosting before.
A lot of such instances have since shut down as they realised the amount of efforts that actually needs into hosting such a platform, especially instances with open registrations. However, a large number of them did survive and are now thriving.
Has the growth rate slowed? Sure, just like it is expected happen after a sudden influx. But it is false to say that Mastodon growth has stalled. Instead, the phrase I would use is ‘stabilized’. Mastodon growth has stabilized into a healthy level as user growth is now happening more organically. Some stats below:
12,808,214 accounts +217,864 in the last week
Stats on most active instances:
By number of users:

This looks really cool!
You will find some good options here https://www.privacyguides.org/en/multi-factor-authentication/#authenticator-apps
Its one of the first thing I install too! A really efficient piece of software!
Yes, I should really switch to Aegis. andOTP has been working well for me though.
Bitwarden, Signal, Firefox, Sumatra PDF, Standard Notes, andOTP, and VLC Media Player
It looks amicable. He just wants to move on to new projects it looks like.
Of course gamer bros are salty about this!
I am excited for this!
