what does being a perfume connoisseur look, feel or work like?

I’m not sure if I’m a connoisseur, I just like testing perfumes I haven’t tried before. I get samples of perfumes at perfume stores and wear them for a few days. If I find it really irresistible I buy a full bottle. If not, I just enjoy trying something different and developing my sense of smell. I could easily go broke buying all the nice perfumes, so sampling is a cheap way to find out what I like and only buy the ones that really hit the mark. How does it look and feel? I look like an old dude with a big beard but at least I smell good.

I check Reddit maybe twice a week, but only a couple of specific niche subs( like many others have said). For me it’s /r/fragrance that I’ve had a hard time finding a good replacement for… Perhaps I should just frequent Basenotes.com more?
