  • Yeah, a bit of sense is all you need. I’ve not used spoofing tools but a few of my friends have - we live rural too and it revolutionises the game. Even our local small city centre isn’t really raid friendly - it’s not like you can hang a out Times Square and literally walk into a full raid whenever you like.

That said, the weekly Pokémon Club in rural areas is a great social, and mons tend to stay in gyms for more than twelve seconds making it a bit easier to get pokecoins. The game is still heavily skewed towards city centres though.

  • Some of them may be hardware related - any time I sign in to one of my TCL TV’s with a Premium account, the first result in any search is always one marked Sponsored. It’s gash, but it doesn’t happen on any other of my devices than that TCL TV which makes me think it’s some sort of vendor problem.

Either way, YouTube/Google/Alphabet/whoever won’t give a fuck so if it’s that bad, then vote with your wallet.

  • I used to love the print Indy. It was a fantastic paper, and the Sunday edition was genuinely a great read in itself with brilliant contributors.

Ever since the print edition ceased (some may point to the launch of i as the turning point but I’m not entirely sure that’s fair) the entire operation has been turned into an ad farm masquerading as a news site.

It’s a cross between a tabloid and the Million Dollar Homepage nowadays, and what a shame that is. At least it keeps browser “close tab” UI devs in business mind.

  • Depending on the size of the organisation or how it’s funded if it’s public sector, then it may well be the “restructuring” that’s holding it up - and by that, I mean there are probably teams and managers screaming out for funded posts to be filled, but a blanket ban on recruitment may be in force while someone with a fancy title figures out the shit state of their staffing affairs.

I’ve had times when I’ve had 40% of my team’s positions open, and when I’ve asked for authority to recruit for already funded posts (probably for budget reasons), I’ve been knocked back because “nah fuck you, we’re waiting on the staffing review being completed”. I don’t really give a fuck about the future plans, I’m wanting to recruit for the posts we have now!

It’s frustrating friend. Shit doesn’t make sense.

  • I was brought up on C, did a module of Java at uni, and am doing an algorithms course which is python heavy.

My other half - who’s quite handy with Python - looks in sheer horror at my code which is littered with semicolons.

I was stumped for half an hour figuring out why the Python interpreter was bouncing an error before it had even reached the main program logic… turns out a { before the block of code royally ruins the interpreter’s day.

    Still, I live and learn.
