Mostly to be more efficient and save water, though I couldn’t fathom how that would work with a toilet. Perhaps it’s part of a system to monitor your water usage to help you reduce your use? Maybe the app suggests to let it mellow when it’s yellow?

Yeah I think the meaning of the above comment boils down to “If it doesn’t have a simple fallback, it can’t be trusted”.

Reddit is trying to sell that data. I would like to sabotage that. Also, some of my activity on Reddit especially early on was quite toxic so I’d rather it be lost anyway.

The truth is, we don’t really have the data on this yet. Many companies enforce RTO as a soft layoff. Others do it to push surveillance. Others still have a vested interest in the office real estate. Some governments offer tax breaks to companies when they do RTO.

The point is, it isn’t about and has never been about productivity. Job hop & unionize.

My issue isn’t with the ethics there. It’s with Tesla’s notorious build quality and reliability issues. And with them making things cheaper and cheaper, this can’t bode well.
