Nah they use “an open standard” being just markdown files or something, but the apps are still proprietary as far as I’m aware

I really hate how I sometimes, though rarely, see Obsidian talked about as if it were open source just because it uses an open standard

Yeah, I had absolutely no idea what “ricing” was even supposed to mean, like it doesn’t look like it’s short for anything, doesn’t seem like an acronym for anything, it’s not analogous or synonymous with anything, I can’t see how “rice” is supposed to be metaphorical at all to cool looking linux desktops, and it’s not an entirely new word like “rizz” or “yeet”

So by all accounts it’s an absolutely unfitting word for what it’s describing

Knowing the racist history of the term now, yeah that makes sense and yeah I vote we move to an objectively better term

Idk what tho, maybe “decore” cuz it actually describes that the focus is the look, that the DE is the Core of the setup, and sounds cooler than “rice”

“Decore” and “Decorizing” is probably the terms I’m personally gonna use atleast

Infinity was my app of choice for like 2ish years, it still works with Reddit atm but when I moved to Lemmy the only real app was Jerboa, and man it was not the same

I delt with it tho, in the hopes that one day Infinity would be for Lemmy

And omg ITS BACK BAYBE

I am way too stocked over a Lemmy app, but man Infinity is lightning fast, super smooth, and beyond customizable! So I won’t be needing Jerboa or Liftoff anymore

This is reddit killing third party apps, because even if you did subscribe you’re still not getting NSFW because reddit is taking that out of the API anyways

So who would pay literally more for less? Reddit can say all they want about supporting 3rd party but even the blind could see through them

Honestly I’d probably be the type to be like “yeah I hate click bait!” Download this, and then stop watching videos entirely because they all look really boring

The dev posted on r/Infinty_For_Reddit that he’s gonna try a subscription model first, and that he personally doesn’t use Lemmy, so there’s no Infinity for Lemmy client in the works, although he says that making Infinity For Lemmy should be easy with the API Proxy that the Lemmy Developers are making
