@driving_crooner sanctions work to stop undemocratic regimes. Those regimes are keeping their own people hostage, and I wish there was a way to save the anti-regime people without supporting the regime. But traveling to Crimea is not what anti-regime people do, so sanction that ass.
@TheOubliette living in a country, vs going on vacation in Crimea, are two very different things.
@TheOubliette @racketlauncher831 supporters and apologists of violence against innocent civilians should be punished, by any human. You don’t think so? Do you support violence against innocent civilians?
@SomethingBlack You failed to put “debian” into google when you were wondering about what “debian” means, instead, you spent several comments and a lot of time demanding answers from other people. You are disrespecting everyone who might be able to help you. You’d know that, if you had read the links I posted, they explain it very well. And I don’t think you are willing to change so… bye bye
@SomethingBlack It’s basic human decency. You ask questions like everyone is working for you.
“Hey guys, I want to leave WhatsApp, should I go to Telegram or Signal?"
-- you guys are NOT helping, that’s still exactly the same problem. Just stay away from anything that isn’t open source, decentralized, self-hostable, e2e encrypted (without rolling their own crypto). That basically leaves only Matrix or XMPP.
@EySkibidiBabBab Element? That’s just one of the apps, and frankly, not the best one. You are looking for Matrix. For android I’d recommend FluffyChat, for desktop/web Cinny. For iOS I’d recommend throwing it to a lake.
> “Hey guys, I want to leave X, should I go to Bluesky or Threads? What? Mastodon? Never heard of that. Looks very complicated, I’ll pass”

Every time!
@EugeneNine Basically the plot of the Animal Farm.
@semperverus Just from the small interactions I had with Hector on mastodon I can see he gets very unreasonable about small things and does not accept the possibility that he may be wrong, despite evidence. So leaving linux and mastodon because of rust is totally on brand for him.
@HiddenLayer555 yeah… it’s exactly the same, isn’t it? We can’t even talk about it…
@Karcinogen Disclaimer isn’t going to cut it. Are you the same person as the other 5 guys in this thread who had exactly the same argument and also “solved” it by adding a disclaimer? Is this an organized spam campaign? Because it sure looks like that. If you like FUTO, fine, but go take it to a community that isn’t focused on open source. Is that too much to ask? Every week? With exactly the same arguments? Are you guys blind?
@newhoa Well now that you also discovered the thread which explains the moderation here, maybe you should delete this comment?
@GravitySpoiled Except people who violate the first rule of this community?
@freijon feel free to learn what “open source” means. Look, considering the number and frequency of posts in this community talking about this issue, you don’t get the benefit of the doubt anymore. People arguing that futo is open source are just spammers. Look around.
@nasi_goreng It does. It makes it visible. I mean look, we are talking about it. And people tolerating the regime, which needs their ignorance to function, yes, those people should not be enjoying the perks of the free world. The alternative is that we will host and greet the supporters of such regimes, and I don’t think that’s in any way effective.
