^^^ Look at this absolute asshole!, ^^^
<— also this one

Say the line BartGPT

The math here is good point to be aware of and as stated doesn’t preclude that the guy is an asshole for wanting to put even a small percentage of people out of work just so he can raise his assholery to tyrannical proportions. Increasing human suffering to teach people who want to have a better life a lesson. What a cartoon villain.

One cool thing is that the comments are self documenting. I read the program earlier and it’s quite clear what it does. Excellent accomplishment, dear colleague!
I hate to admit this, but I agree. My qualm isn’t with the message that we ought to work less. That’s smart. Why shouldn’t we live in a society where we can have a fulfilling lifestyle without endless soul crushing work?
My qualm is with the wording. The implication is that one should consent to work, but really work is a fundamental truth. Take away the facade of society and all we have is our struggle to survive the elements and find food, i.e. work.

I’ve was doing the same until yesterday, then I found StreetComplete. Since then, it’s so much easier to enter addresses. So much easier to add addresses while out walking than to carry a notepad or memorize numbers.
There are some good ideas in this comment, but I’d like to counter that the cautionary tales are an instigating factor in implementing safety for new tech. The wealthy few shouldn’t get to blindly and unilaterally decide the future of all through careless and unrestricted development of world-altering tech.
If we keep doubling, will I eventually be a person on the tracks? There are a finite number of people, so eventually I would be, right? So, passing the buck would be equivalent to handing my fate to a stranger.
OTOH, if there are an infinite number of people, then this thought experiment is creating people out of thin air. Do these imaginary people’s rhetorical lives even matter?
Either way, it seems better to kill 1 person at the start.
Yay, it’s Story Time! There will be milk and cookies, right?
Right?
That’s right, we don’t need no stinkin’ CSS!
Update: Just for clarity - we most definitely need the stinkin’ CSS.

I thought this was an inciteful comment. Language is a kind of ‘view’ (in the model view controller sense) of intelligence. It signifies a thought or meme. But, language is imprecise and flawed. It’s a poor representation since it can be misinterpreted or distorted. I wonder if language based AIs are inherently flawed, too.
Edit: grammar, ironically
This is refreshing to see. I thought I was the only one who felt this way.

The binary says ‘Meme’
Agreed, good tools can be used badly. Over the years I’ve written Java, C++, and PHP professionally, and I’ve seen excellent and horrible impls in each. Today, I mostly use Java and this thread is reminding me that I need to learn a new for-fun language.

Goofy but aesthetically pleasing impl
This is the right strategy. Storage space costs nothing these days. Why not just clone and go? That’s what I always say.
Why, you can just ‘inherit’ some code by copying a block, pasting it, then making a few small changes. No thinking, no problem.
Ok, I’m off to copy of my code folder for the next release.
