A few I’ve found. But your subscriptions don’t carry between instances, and it’s hard try and cycle through them on mobile. And even then after a few minutes they start failing.

I was trying to avoid giving reddit traffic.

Talking to myself about niche topics like bourbon, civil engineering, my local city and state, and what not is boring. There just isn’t the user base here to have active discussions on such narrow topics.

I usually just go to an instance itself. Sounds like you are using an extension?

I have checked multiple instances, and everyone has the same trouble. And I have no idea how to host my own instance.

The dude took the money and also married money (having married tennis player Serena Williams). Aside for rarely posting comments, I don’t think he has anything to do with Reddit anymore.

By all means, you do you. But here is how I see it.

1. Reddit is now all out to get money. I don’t want them to use my content to get it. I was fine going so when they provided a service, but now that I don’t like their terms, my content will be gone.
2. There is next to no information I provided that is unique. If I found a solution, it’s only because I founded it elsewhere. I am not destroying information.
3. For that which is unique, it is merely my opinion, and see point 1.

95% of the people or groups I would want to follow are not on Mastodon.

And frankly, the Fediverse isn’t as user-friendly. It is a but tougher when you have to choose an instance, as well as learn how to follow from other instances.
