I was going over a bunch of alternatives last week and ended up creating an account here too. Haven’t bought anything yet, but hopefully I will move my namecheap domain here. Seemed to be the one with most available domain extensions with a price tending to be cheaper and even some discounts. Looked and joker and inwx but either didn’t have some interesting domains or were quite expensive. Specially inwx which only understood after creating and account that on top of each domain price I would need to add 5€ for basic whois privacy protection. On infomaniam it seems to be 2.5€ which combined with cheaper prices doesn’t sound so bad.

I really wish there was a simple provider that only did one thing: sell domains in europe, with all domains possible and cheap enough prices.

It was my first smartphone experience and I liked the OS a lot. Still have my original Jolla somewhere, should work. After that I got one Xperia that can be bootloader unlocked and should be able to install an alternative OS, hoping that in the the future I could install Sailfish and maybe when the android support ended it would still be useful. Huge mistake, they never supported my model. Even worse, there’s no existing alternative android ports that support it.

It’s a thing for people to share git repositories and see the diffs and send changes. Common alternatives are gitlab and github. Codeberg is a fork community maintained after the original owners started to be weird and doing stuff that people didn’t like. It’s written in Go language. Small and fast for people to deploy themselves and maintain, in complete opposite from the common alternative people used gitlab which is a huge pain to self host and needs enormous resources.

With the amount of people burning out and the open hostility, no matter how much support seems to be said in the practical sense it doesn’t materialize. The interests are clearly not aligned and keep grinding like this won’t do any good to anyone mentally for sure.

I can only imagine it happening with a downstream out of the tree patchset where the rust people will just do what they need to do and eventually a bunch of drivers will start to be done in that branch that will never be ported to the mainline. It could take a decade more for that work to maybe go back into the kernel. Like other similar efforts happened before.

In all that discussion and whole thread linus could’ve said anything useful for either side or to help things move forward but chose to do nothing besides saying 2 things and they didn’t address any of the concerns.
