Sure, as long as the VPN itself is secure. Strong passwords/keys, etc. A VPN itself can be a potential security risk, as if it’s compromised an attacker can tunnel traffic directly into a network straight past a firewall.
The risks can definitely be mitigated, but if someone’s asking for an ELI5 on KVMs, then it may be best to stay away until they have a better understanding of IT infrastructure altogether.
ELI5:
It lets you remotely control a computer.
It’s different (arguably better) than remote connection software because it is a separate device that basically just forwards your keyboard & mouse inputs. This means that you can control the remote device even if it’s powered off or not able to boot properly, and you can configure the BIOS remotely too.
You could call someone on-site to connect the KVM to a server, but KVMs, while expensive by regular person standards, are pretty cheap as enterprise hardware goes. So some organizations just keep separate KVMs plugged into all critical hardware all the time.
Worth noting here that KVMs are potentially a quite high security risk.
Their website is probably light on details because “KVM” is fairly common industry parlance. If you normally work with this stuff then just hearing those 3 letters tells you most of what you need to know.

I assume this chart is intended for people making an effort to eat as much protein as possible for as cheap as possible, I.e. bodybuilders, powerlifters, and the like. In that case you would want to avoid vegetables because of their low protein regardless of how much they actually cost, so the cost per gram of protein is actually more useful.
In fairness I may be reading too much into it; nothing about the chart actually specifies who it’s for.

It was a bit of a struggle at first but that’s what I signed up for. Very happy with the finished result.
Not even soldered, but spot-welded. Still ‘not field replaceable’ sounds like a challenge to me. I be with some wirecutters, some solder, and a little bit of wire that battery can be easily replaced.

Assembly effectively is coding in binary. Been a long time since I’ve looked at it, but you’d basically just be recreating the basic assembly commands anyway.
I guess you could try flipping individual transistors with a magnet or an electron gun or something if you really want to make things difficult.
If you actually want to one-up assembly coders, then you can try designing your own processor on breadboard and writing your own machine code. Not a lot of easy ways to get into that, but there’s a couple of turbo dorks on YouTube. Or you could just try reading the RISC-V specification.
But even then, you’re following in someone else’s tracks. I’ve never seen someone try silicon micro-lithography in the home lab, so there’s an idea. Or you could always try to beat the big corps to the punch on quantum computing.
