Not only that, but requiring internet for installing also isn’t optimal for many developing countries. What, you need to bring your PC to an internet cafe to install Windows? I hope Microsoft at least offers physical USB installation drives that don’t require internet access.
I recently asked Bing to give some code on a pretty undocumented feature and use case. It was typing out a clear answer from a user forum, but just before it was done, it deleted everything and just said it couldn’t find anything. Tried it again in a new conversation and it didn’t even try to type it out and said the same straight away. Only when given a hint in the question from what it had previously typed, it actually gave the answer. ChatGPT didn’t have this problem and just gives an answer, even though it was a bit outdated.
Jerboa works just fine for me. I’m also on a Fairphone 4, but running CalyxOS with Android 13. Maybe you can try Jerboa from another source like F-droid instead of Google Play or vice versa. You can also try the IzzyOnDroid repository on F-droid.
The problem I have is that you must use one of the terrible devices to view movies and shows at high quality. So far, pretty everything except Netflix doesn’t offer higher than 1080p or even 720p on PC due to DRM. Netflix required the most expensive subscription for 4K and only works on Windows with their app. Even if you have the latest expensive hardware, you need to get a cheap Chromecast, Roku, Fire TV stick or Apple TV for DRM. That’s for TVs, but none of those devices work on less common resolutions like 1440p or ultra wide resolutions. Which means the only way for me to watch those movies with a cinematic aspect ratio in high quality on my fancy monitor is either physical media or piracy.
The Gnome desktop is a pretty good middle ground in my opinion. It is in my opinion even simpler than Windows to use and allows enough customizability with extensions. People in the Linux world love to dunk on it for using slightly more RAM and not having the same amount of customizability as other desktops like KDE Plasma.
