I use Navidrome. Really well made clients for anything, ability to select transcoding method (or lack thereof) based on a client, changing of following songs etc.
That’s a problem with every non-physical storage of data/knowledge - it’s ephemeral and can disappear anytime
I do self-host some services but it bugs me that a lot of articles that talk about costs do not factor in a lot of additional costs. Drives for NAS need replacement. Running NUCs means quite an energy draw compared to most ARM based SBCs.
