This is a common misconception. NPR does not receive any of the US federal budget. They just apply for and win federal grants like many others can.

No more than you can say that about any organization/business that has ever received a grant or government contracts. This is a common misconception. They are not in the budget for US.
By Musk’s definition SpaceX is “funded by the state.” And far more than NPR is.
Thanks for all your hard work!
It’s pretty scummy behavior
I can’t speak for everyone else, but the only recommendations I want to see are ones directly relevant to the video I have pulled up in front of me. I can get why that is not exactly what everyone wants though.
And after three or four clicks, you’re immediately stumbling through horrible right wing ragebait
No argument here!
I mean I don’t care as long as I can opt out and it’s clear how to.
Bless you AMD
AMD handles its version of CIP and Telemetry in arguably the most transparent manner. The installer of AMD Software Adrenalin presents the option to prevent its data-collection tool from being enabled at the completion of driver installation, regardless of whether you’ve chosen the “typical,” “driver only,” or “custom” install options. There’s an entire page of the installer dedicated to this, you see a large checkbox about data-collection that’s checked by default, but which you can uncheck, and complete installation.
Companies don’t even try to spin it anymore. There is no reason any of us need this.
Idk man I was on Reddit basically since it 1 or 2 years in and felt like no one really knew about him who wasn’t there in the first 2-4 years or wasn’t around when he died. He was not a well known figure and as important as he was for reddit’s early trajectory, he wasn’t there for long. Less than a year if memory serves. Again he was important, but the windows of time for people to learn of him were small and the site was smaller.
Day 3 and not a single post/comment about Musk, just you taking a needless jab at me because it’s funny to you. This thread is dead except for you and me right now.

To people who do have concerns though, if you’re tech minded maybe look at contributing to a way of improving the functionality of Lemmy. It’s in our gift to improve this place so if we can do something about it then we should, rather than passively complain when things aren’t how we want them to be.
This has literally nothing to do with whether or not relegating topics to megathreads is a good thing. In order to fix the issues with megathreads, we’d have to fundamentally change how these forums work, which no one is going to do and users aren’t going to follow unless most, if not all, instances follow suit. It has to be baked into the platform. The entire cycle of content sites like reddit, lemmy, etc. depend on is antithetical to megathreads outside of extreme high profile events, such as a presidential election or (yet another) still ongoing school shooting or something.
You need a source because this directly contradicts you.
That is not under 5 years.
Edit: Additionally, Monterey will get security updates until mid-2024. That’s 7 years for your 2017 models, which is the most recent, and only impacts the 2017 MBAir.
There’s nothing to evaluate. Megathreads were designed to kill topics on Reddit (unless it was a MAJOR, developing, current event) and they do the same here. You’re the first person to comment at all in this thread in over a month.
