I thought for a moment it was happening to me after coming off of just simply upvoting things about lemmy, but I think I’ve seen other people report that the reddit site is currently on and off shitting itself. (Is it hug of deathing itself? Plenty of people are coming for popcorn.)

I think it would be too fast for reddit to incorporate auto shadow code into the api itself to time out requests from users engaging with lemmy/kbin things, but I’m not really sure.

I’d rather there be a dedicated instance to archiving subreddits rather than populate current communities with old stuff. (As in, probably could do this to more than just selfhosted) Read only, if lemmy even works that way, but federated so people on lemmy can link to it and read in app easily. We shouldn’t let reddit hold the keys to useful historical information that has been gathered over the years, I feel it needs to be self-hosted and mirrored, but forging a new community culture I think is better than direct baggage from reddit.

I have very bad typing issues lol. I write things super badly, and then rewrite until spell check gives me something and since I don’t know how it’s spelled I’ll just be like “yep, that looks good.”

At least for reddit, spez used saying it isn’t currently profitable as a pity point in the ama today.

Maybe you should have figured all of this out before you asked for developers to pay absorbent amounts and shift more people on to your official apps?
