I’ve shucked probably 100s of those WD essentials and they just had a little SATA -> USB adapter on it. It’s been a few years but it doesn’t seem like they’d make a whole new PCB just to include USB.

There are co-op/commune options but that’s probably not what OP is looking for either. Unfortunately or not “no man is an island” really is true and we’re all inherently interconnected. We all share the same resources and space, and should all have input into how those resources and spaces are used.

TBH if someone wants to go out into the wilderness and survive with little/no creature comforts I think that should be perfectly fine and they should be allowed space to do that; I also think healthcare and some sort of UBI/food allowance should exist so that a person won’t starve or die of an easily prevented disease, or to make sure the person really wants to go be alone and isn’t just experiencing an untreated illness.

By all means if you want a Corvette or that lifted F150 you should have to work for it but if you’re happy eating squirrel and beans and reading books from the public library? You should be allowed to do that.

Turns out a whole bunch of us were sick of reddit anyway and were eagerly awaiting a new place to go. I’d have never heard of the Fediverse if reddit hadn’t been dicks about API pricing. I knew as soon as I came here and started exploring that this was the way to go; reddit is old news, it’s been around for 18 years, that’s forever in internet time. It’s time to move onto the next thing and the idea of hundreds (thousands!) of federated servers talking and sharing content across platforms is very exciting to me.

I would agree that nothing they said in that statement would lead me to believe they’re a feminist.

“crazy misandrist power tripping bitch” would’ve definitely been more accurate but I suspect the reaction then would’ve been to it being a gendered insult because “bitch.”

Which part of what they said was untrue? Or is it just an issue of the words they used?

They really thought it’d just end after 48 hours; it became a war of attrition and I’m happy so many of us found the fediverse. I’m happy the project(s) seem to have talented and dedicated developers and admins; long live the Fediverse.
