I keep seeing ads for those AI tools that re-write work emails for you, to give them a “better tone”. Does the world really need an automated tool to help people with workplace posturing?
I find this even funnier knowing there are AI products out there to summarize incoming emails so you don’t have to read the whole thing. We live in a world with software to write emails nobody cares enough to write themselves, to be summarized by other software for people who don’t care enough to read them.

Took my freshly re-cobbled together computer to local computer guy after an upgrade with hand-me-down parts. He asked what was wrong and I said there was an alarm for the CPU fan, and that I’d torn the case open and hooked a second fan into the CPU fan connection and it also didn’t work, and the I plugged the CPU fan into a different connection and got it working, so by elimination I was pretty sure the fans were good and the connection in the motherboard was bad.
He seemed mildly amused/impressed by my spiel. I’m not really a computer person, but swapping out parts to narrow down the source of the problem seemed logically basic.
I ended up chilling with him while he worked on things. He found WinZip on my desktop and let out a “whoa retro.” which hurt me deeply.
Also complaints that lack specificity must be aggravatingly common. I once complained on an open board about a bug in Wasteland 3 and a dev reading comments actually PM’d me asking for details. I provided details as best I could, including screenshots- the very next patch included a fix for my niche issue. But I imagine most bug reports being “GAME BROKEn! SUX! Fix NOW character creation BROKENN!”
I too got an email and haven’t posted at all since the API change.
If I really was in the top 35k before that, then at least I know quitting Reddit made some kind of dent in their content.
Ever since the first pricing announcement, they said they’d lock out NSFW. Originally they said it would just be porn, but when asked how the API would differentiate different types of NSFW Reddit never replied.
When mods using 3PA asked how they were supposed to remove NSFW posts on non-NSFW subreddits, the Reddit reply was the posters shouldn’t be doing that. Yeah.
Scary numbers.
