Damn. I haven’t built a new computer in 10 years.
Are we seriously here now? DAAAAAAMN
I got old.

As crazy as it is, Donald Trump appears to have been the single largest motivator to vote in American history. Either him or Covid.
He has definitely motivated me to vote twice, and for the rest of my life I won’t miss an election. Seriously. I had voted before, but I’d sit it out if I was too busy or I didn’t particularly like either candidate.
I have happily voted for Mr. or Ms. Not Trump twice. Now I also have to vote for Mr or Ms Not Influenced by Trump every chance I get too.
Eh, I enjoy it. I’ve never stopped watching it. Even if I don’t particularly like an episode I’m always glad I seen it.
I’ve been looking forward to that shit my whole life. It’s gonna hurt when they do cancel it.
Some of the sponsored shit is crazy too.
I was watching a video on a timeline of events with Puff Daddy and it hit this one part that went something like, “the young man said that Diddy wanted to play with his anus. Which reminds me of our sponsor, the law offices of so and so. Life is unpredictable and you or your loved ones could get molested too. If that happens you’ll need legal representation! Our sponsor will represent you…”.
Holy shit my brain shorted on that one.
My wife uses Facebook every day.
She’s a very family oriented person and she’s gonna be wherever they are.
She’s the kind of person who wakes up and calls her mom, then her grandma, then her sisters every single day. Hell, she even talks to her nephews every day and they’re toddlers.
There really isn’t anything that compares as far as that goes.
I left and I’m fine with it.
Every now and then I open the app and my stomach turns at how horrible it is. If I’m at my desk I might go to one of the smaller video subreddits and spend 5 minutes catching up.
I like Lemmy. It’s enough to keep me distracted, and if I make a comment 9 times out of 10 I’ll get an actual conversation with someone.
I get a week or I can take the check and keep working.
Guess what I end up doing?
I delay the end of year misery for an extra week. That’s what I do.
Oooh I loved my inline frames.
I was so fucking proud of that. My links down the left side, two inline frames neatly in a box on the right, perfectly designed in two versions. One for 800x600, the other for 1024x768.
I did websites for bands from East Tennessee, one for a weird website for survivors of “satanic ritual abuse”. I thought it was nuts but I made a hundred bucks.
I wouldn’t even know where to start on the modern web. I’m fine with that too. I lost the passion for it when everyone under the sun wanted me to be their free tech support years ago.
I remember when I first started on homestead. Seeing my dangling skeleton gifs and my “under construction” banners made me feel like something. There it was, the World Wide Web, and I had my own place on it. Perpetually under construction.
I used to love browsing geocities and the log in name would be right there in the link. Something like geocities.com/cartman1988
I’d guess the password and change things around on their page to mess with them. “Hmmm, Cartman eh? Let’s try southpark. I’M IN. Time to photoshop dicks on this dude’s face!”
To be a kid again.
Y’all got me all old and nostalgic here. :p
And whether people like you or not, you get a conversation no matter what you say. It’s not so overpopulated that most of your comments and posts go completely unnoticed.
I made a dumb joke that was practically only downvoted, but at least it was seen.
I miss Reddit for a few little things here and there, but I’m glad I migrated.
Stock OS. The only thing that has bothered me so far is that I can’t use voice chat in Counter-Strike: Source because it instantly crashes the game and I can’t find a solution anywhere online for it.
What good is a 2000s online shooter if you can’t tell your enemies that their mom is gay?
For real though. It does everything I want it to do.
I’m going with a lot.
My Steam deck is my primary computer these days. I dock it and and use it with a keyboard and mouse when I’m not gaming.
It definitely does.
