Hello, tone-policing genocide-defender and/or carnist 👋
Instead of being mad about words, maybe you should think about why the words bother you more than the injustice they describe.
Have a day!

Unfortunately, from trying this myself, I don’t think you can forward port 53 to the Android host, so that won’t work (easily). It seems that privileged ports aren’t allowed to be forwarded.
I can say with great certainty that the only package format that we don’t need is Snap. AppImages and Flatpaks both have their place, but Snap is just a great way to find yourself wasting time because their shitty fucking sandbox system doesn’t work properly (and also doesn’t sandbox at all if you’re not running AppArmor 🤡).
Yes! The three-finger drag + this getting merged into COSMIC recently almost completely covers all of the things I like about macOS.
This is probably the most underutilized, but extremely helpful features from macOS and I never expected to see it ported to Linux because i thought no one else knew about it.
Super happy to see it going into libinput!
Helix is best editor 😏
Lol. The thumbnail doesnt even render for me. My bad.
What are you referring to? I don’t think these changes have anything to do with AI.
The closest thing in the article I found in the article was a mention of LLVM, which is a totally different thing from LLMs, if that’s what you’re thinking.
Has anyone here tried Rust dev on Haiku OS? I love these “niche” OSes, and it’d be cool to write some utilities for it. I assume that a lot of the syscalls might be completely different, so it’d be more challenging as well?
Under heavy load. If you saturate any CPU and GPU, you’re going to have it heat up quickly, and depending on your cooling profile, your fans will ramp up.
What the noise actually says is that the fans make noise, and the laptop body doesn’t do much to dull the noise.
There’s plenty of cooling capability. This thing has two fans that can get to sounding like a jet engine if it gets that hot. And it’s ventilated enough that it actually cools it down.
If anything, it’s loud as hell under heavy load, but cooling isn’t a problem either.
I’ve been using Managarr ever since you shared it here, and it’s awesome!
lemmy.world has some very power-hungry and boot-throating mods, especially when it comes to this.
That’s great! Last I checked, Waymonad was stalled indefinitely, so this is reassuring.
You’re right, and it’s such a bummer that Waymonad isn’t a thing. No other window manager or DE comes close to XMonad for me. i3/Sway are way off, IMO.
The closest that you can get is using something like Grayjay, where they have their own social media system, but your comments will only be interactable to other people using Grayjay.
SmartTubeNext is is the good (no ads) version of YouTube for AndroidTV devices.
Frutiger Aero, my beloved 🤩
Can someone explain why, and what to use them for?
