I went with the duo, haven’t gotten mine yet. Considering I’ve never given up on my Pebble 2 and Steel (with 1 day battery life) it’s an easy switch for me. I tried the new Pebble app, it sucks. I’m hoping the Rebble version will work with the Duo. I use waaaay too many third party software options to go without.
Can someone ELI5 me why DNS is such a fucking cancer with VPNs? My work machine uses VPNs and my home network, my server, etc, no probs whatsoever. I can ping outside all damn day. But to get DNS to work on my work pc sometimes I have to restart my home network to get DNS to work on the machine. I can’t wrap my head around that.

Even at home. I do one usb backup and one internal backup of photos, home videos and documents. I would love to make backups of other stuff, but I can replace a lot of the other crap if need be, because hard drives kinda stalled in price drops.
10 years and no one bothered to pull some information at random? I mean generally companies have a schedule of assessments to ensure records. Even if it’s as simple as checksum.
It was my 3rd ever container and I’m still learning the wonderful world of Linux by doing stuff (I’m using Bazzite on main pc, but it’s locked and so not a whole hella lot I can fiddle with) And it was the first compose that wasn’t just copy paste edit for me.
And it was all over setting up kiwix for me. It now overshadows Paperless in complexity. Now I need to find more things to play with, with no intention of using them for anything other than learning.

Explain Like I'm Five@lemmy.world•Please someone explain how there could be a gov shutdown when republicans control the senate and the house? But are blaming the Dems who are way in the minority???English
174·1 month agoAnd since the GOP shits on everything left of far right atm, they get to be petty and maybe get some ground back. Plus last time around, the Dems had leverage and blew it spectacularly. Schumer wrote a strongly worded letter I believe. I feel bad for federal workers, but this government needs a rework anyhow. And not the technocratic, corpo, or fascist facelift some seem to yearn for.
As an OMV user, most of my time starting a container is troubleshooting the compose syntax (delete tabs, replace with spaces, is it " or ’ ?) I recently discovered that some containers create a user by default with no way of specifying another user and since it’s a container it doesn’t register to the host, meaning that setting file permissions and accessing via smb is oh so much joy. But every struggle is a new fount of knowledge.

Programmer Humor@lemmy.ml•i love ai in my offline foss softwares that are still in beta
7·2 months agoThe only thing LLMs have contributed so far for me is that with my phone job I no longer have to note accounts. It listens, it writes a summary (90% of the time). So far I’ve been instructed to leave the accounts void of notes regardless unless I feel something super important should be added. So nope, you bought the shit. If it works, great, if not, not my fault. I will take breathes between calls now instead of panic typing notes in 10s between calls. It is kinda cool to see the summaries though. It’s definitely trained on clear English though. It hates foreign dialects and LA and MO southern accents. To be fair though, I barely comprehend 80% of people with Cajun accents, and piece together based on context.
The only reason I still have a s20fe. The last of the sd card phones… sigh
My actual desk and office - messy. My desktop - folder, folder, 4 shortcuts. My phone -groups of apps ordered by function - Pebble, Office, Entertainment, etc. My garage - absolute hoarder nightmare from hell cause I just can’t seem to get to it. Why I can be ordered in one area and not in another is beyond me.

163·3 months agoLearned about the mentos thing in 2006. Saw a list of things to flavor coke. This was #4 on the list and I decided to try it (yay mint coke) - at a dollar tree parking lot, in my car. Went off in my mouth and I maintained the pressure until I got the door open and my head out. Thankfully little mess on me or the car. Learned the internet can be full of sneaky assholes that day.

Problem is the wait lists. Cosmere books in my area are on an approximate 18wk wait. Audiobooks nearly double.
Wouldn’t happen to have one for acid lounge would you? Lost mine after failing to use it for years.
Worst part was after we stripped the carpet and bleached the shit out of it (dog urine). Saw a tiny bug scirry across the floor. Little did I know it wasthe beginning of a war against german cockroaches. It ended with gel bait on every wall, and 10 fog bombs (for my home size it whould have been 5) to nuke the bastards into oblivion. 4 damn months with those fuckers.
This is why I can’t stand IPTV services. Piracy at home? No big deal. Lots of community, mostly free, lots of good vibes. IPTV just steals for the cash grab, and likely will rob you blind on their way out.
